SSDI Intake Call Qualification Rules: A Starting Checklist
SSDI is one of the busiest pay-per-call verticals, and one of the most disputed. Most disputes come from rules that were never written down clearly. Here is a starting checklist you can adapt to your buyer.
This is a marketing qualification checklist, not legal advice or a statement of Social Security eligibility. Your buyer's criteria come first.
Core rules buyers often use
- Age. Many buyers prefer callers aged 50 or older, because age is a factor in how the Social Security Administration evaluates claims. Write it as "Caller is 50 or older" or whatever age band your buyer sets.
- Recent work history. SSDI is tied to work credits, so buyers commonly ask for work in at least 5 of the last 10 years. Write it as "Worked at least 5 of the last 10 years".
- Duration of the condition. Social Security's definition of disability involves a condition expected to last at least 12 months. A rule like "Out of work, or expects to be, for 12 months or more" captures this.
- Not already represented. "Does not already have an attorney or advocate for this claim" is usually a hard rule.
- Not currently working full time. "Not currently working full time" or a limit on current earnings, if your buyer sets one.
- Location. "Lives in one of the states the firm serves", listed out.
Optional rules
- Has seen a doctor for the condition
- Has not been denied within a set period, or, for appeals campaigns, has been denied
- Is the claimant, or is calling for a family member who can join the call
How to write rules that can be checked
- One fact per rule. "Is over 50 and not represented" should be two rules, so each can be met or not met separately.
- Something said on the call. If the agent never asks about work history, no one can check it from the recording.
- No judgment words. "Sounds serious" can't be checked; "Out of work 12 months or more" can.
Transferred = qualified
Some SSDI buyers only pay for calls transferred to an attorney or intake specialist. In that case you can skip rule checks and count transfers as qualified, while still tracking which publisher sends transfers at the lowest cost.
